Fluid dynamics provides reach visual detail for a variety of applications, with limited user input. Our research project focuses on creating interactive simulations that can embody a variety of visual and physical phenomena. The algorithms are also used as a test bed for parallel algorithm development on GPUs and multi-core CPUs.

Our particle-based fluid simulation explored novel acceleration strategies for smooth-particle hydrodynamics on GPUs. The work on a general shallow wave equation allowed for efficient solution of height-field-based liquids with strong surface tension forces on curved surfaces.
